Hello, I am Annie and this is my Hygge & Cwtch blog created in Wales and inspired by the Danish hygge (pronounced hoo-gah) way of life. I believe a lot of goodness flows from choosing to live in the moment and take things simple and slow. We all need a bit of time and space to relax, take comfort and enjoy the good things in life with good people. I believe connecting with nature's beauty and nurturing power and indulging in moments of everyday joy is a true tonic.
Over the past year or so, we’ve been slowly but steadily building a little community of people who have an interest in interior and garden design. We’ve welcomed new blog readers, email subscribers and Instagram friends into our world of design, nature, connection and appreciating the beauty in and around our homes. So, we thought […]
We can’t think of a better way to kick off the year than with a new project reveal! We’re really happy to be sharing with you the first completed stage one of our 2023 projects, Marshfield House. Our client, in the beautiful town of Marshfield, Cardiff, took on Hygge & Cwtch Design Studio to help […]
While tastes change and trends come and go, there are some stories and interior design tips which are forever relevant, year after year. Some even become more appropriate as the years go on as mindsets shift and the importance of ‘home’ changes. So as we move into the new year, we thought we’d take a […]
It’s quite rare for us to talk about interior design trends here at Hygge & Cwtch. We very much subscribe to the ethos of a beautiful home is a happy and content one. Our passion is to make beautiful spaces which enhance and aid our happiness and wellbeing at home. Achieving this is very much […]
There’s nothing quite like the final two months of the year. Wrapping up against the cold air. Wet welly walks. Christmas shopping. Festive celebrations. School plays. Muddy football matches. An abundance of reasons to go out and connect with people and with nature. But with that, comes an unrivalled yearning for a warm, cosy sanctuary. […]
One of our key values here at Hygge and Cwtch, and one that we strive to achieve in every single project we work on, is putting connection at the heart of everything. Connection to nature. Connection to ourselves. And connection with others. It’s essential to our wellbeing at home yet is something that we can […]
Back in June we shared Part One of our Greenfield Project house tour. And now, as we take some time during the summer to rest and reflect on the first half of the year, it felt like a good time to complete the tour. We’ve already had a walk through the stunning open plan kitchen-dining […]
Oh how we love it when we get the professional photography back from a recently completed project! It makes us feel a renewed excitement for jobs which can often be years in the making. Two years in fact, for this particular home, largely thanks to lockdown delays. As a Cardiff interior design studio, we really […]
On the eve our six year anniversary since establishing Hygge and Cwtch Design Studio, we are going right back to the beginning to look at our first completed architectural and interior design scheme. We are very proud of this project and it has a special place in our hearts. Project Name Heolgerrig The Property A […]
It’s been almost six years since we launched the Hygge & Cwtch brand. In that time, we’ve worked on numerous interior design jobs, from small space planning to full house turnkey projects. Each of these projects have helped us to develop and hone a signature interior style. Not something that we intentionally set out to […]
